Wales clinched a place in the 2017 World Cup after coming from 14-10 down at half-time to beat Italy 20-14 in Monza.
John Kear's men opened the scoring at Stadio Brianteo with the first of two tries from Ben Morris, but a pair of tries from substitute Colin Wilkie as well as three goals from former Hull KR captain Terry Campese gave the Azzurri the lead late in the first half.
Anthony Walker crashed over straight from the scrum for a crucial try just before the break, and Wales turned on the style in the second half, adding further tries through Andrew Gay and Morris.
Wales' victory enabled them to avenge their 2013 World Cup defeat to Italy, a 32-16 loss at the Millennium Stadium thanks to a try and four conversions from Josh Mantellato.
Italy will have a chance to secure the 14th and final place at the 2017 event when they play in the European qualifying play-off at Leigh next Friday.
